Jakarta - Another proud achievement was achieved by a student from Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia University (Unusia). Muhammad Ibnu Mundzir, who also serves as Deputy Chair of the Unusia Pagarnusa Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM Pencak Silat), won third place in the Men's Singles Adult Category at the 2026 South Jakarta Mayor's Cup 5 Provincial Pencak Silat Championship.

The championship is a prestigious event that also serves as a selection round for the 2028 National Sports Week (PON). In the competition, Ibnu was the sole delegate from the Unusia Pagarnusa Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit, competing against selected athletes from various universities and regions in South Jakarta.

According to him, the high prestige of the championship and the rigorous selection process motivated him to test his abilities at a higher level.

"This championship is a challenge for me to test my abilities at the highest level. With thorough preparation and strong determination, I want to give my best effort and prove that goals can be achieved even amidst various challenges," said Ibnu.

Preparation for the championship involved intensive training to hone technique and physical condition, match simulations, and regular evaluations with coaches. He revealed that the biggest challenges he faced were not only the competition arena, but also maintaining discipline in managing his weight, managing his own competition needs, and maintaining his stamina throughout the preparation period. This was thanks to his discipline in maintaining his physical and mental health, meticulous preparation management, and the full support of his coaches and those around him.

Ibnu expressed gratitude and pride for this achievement, as his hard work had paid off. He dedicated this achievement to the coaches and administrators of the National Indonesian Martial Arts Association (PB IPSI), the Cilandak District arts coaches, and his family and friends from the Unusia Pagarnusa Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM Pencak Silat) for their constant prayers and support.

Ibnu hopes his achievement will motivate Unusia Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit members and other students to continue competing and developing their potential.

"Don't be afraid to try and push your limits. The key to achieving success, whether in sports or non-academic fields, is consistent training, disciplined time management, and the courage to turn every challenge into an opportunity for growth. For me, this achievement is a testament to my hard work and responsibility to continue upholding the dignity of pencak silat and bringing honor to Unusia's reputation in the competitive arena," he concluded.

Muhammad Ibnu Mundzir's achievements demonstrate Unusia's commitment to supporting the development of student potential, both in academic and non-academic fields. Through various student activity units, Unusia continues to foster a generation of achievers and individuals with character who are capable of bringing honor to their alma mater at the regional, national, and international levels.
